When the Night Falls

When the night falls, oh yeah
You can tell by the way that you feel
Make the right calls, oh yeah
And just hope that she remembers you still

Nowhere in the Midwest are the arts more intertwined with the life of a community than Door County and nowhere in Door County is the passion to connect the arts to the community greater than at the Hardy Gallery in Ephraim, WI.

The Hardy Gallery is the premier non-profit organization in Door County with the sole purpose of promoting and encouraging local artists, inspiring local youth in creative ways, supporting emerging artists and celebrating the Peninsula's veteran artists. The Gallery Dock holds a lot of meaning for Ephraim residents and visitors alike, not to mention the decades of boaters who would paint their respective vessel's name on the clapboard siding.

Door County is named after the strait between the Door Peninsula and Washington Island. The dangerous passage, which is now scattered with shipwrecks, was known to early French explorers and local Native Americans. Because of the natural hazards of the strait, where the waters of Green Bay meet the open body of Lake Michigan, they gave it the French appellation Porte des Morts Passage, which in English means the "Door to the Way to Death," or simply, "Death's Door."

A little bit about deviantART

Eta 2019: I am no longer listed on DeviantArt.

DeviantArt (stylized as deviantART abbreviated as dA) is an online community showcasing various forms of user-made artwork. First launched on August 7, 2000 by Scott Jarkoff, Matthew Stephens, Angelo Sotira and others, deviantArt, Inc. is headquartered in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles, California, United States.

DeviantArt aims to provide a platform for any artist to exhibit and discuss works. Works are organized in a comprehensive category structure, including traditional art, photography, digital art, literature, Flash, filmmaking, skins for applications, operating system customization utilities and others, along with extensive downloadable resources such as tutorials and stock photography. Additional utilities include journals, polls, groups and portfolios.

As of August 2010, the site consists of over 14.5 million members, and over 100 million submissions, and receives around 140,000 submissions per day. In addition, deviantArt users submit over 1.4 million "favorites" and 1.5 million comments daily. The domain deviantart.com attracted at least 36 million visitors annually by 2008 according to a Compete.com study. As of July 2011, it is the 13th largest social network with 3.8 million weekly visits.

Even with the large audience of artists and viewers, it is easy to target other photographers via the array of groups established by genre and interests. One can offer their work for sale which is printed by dA. I've had 3 - 16 x 16 giclée prints made by them – the quality is excellent and economical as well!
